Official program name: Go Zero: Heat Pump Water Heater
Benefits and limits
Current rebate depends on the provider's Phase 2 round, equipment and location
Full requirements
The single-family pathway covers qualifying existing homes with up to four dwelling units within South Coast AQMD jurisdiction. For Phase 2, an eligible heat-pump or zero-emission solar water heater must replace gas or propane water heating, be installed on or after September 4, 2026 and meet the updated equipment rules. Finalized permits, photographs and equipment identifiers are required. The higher geographic tier depends on the specific address being in an overburdened community; a Desert Hot Springs finder match alone does not establish that tier.
