Desert Hot Springs Police Department Staffing Analysis and Recommendations

Approve and direct staff to draft a resolution that: 1) Establishes current Desert Hot Springs Police Department sworn staffing level at 45 sworn officers, to be achieved via the hiring of 2 sworn officers each year over the next 5 years; 2) Once the staffing level of 45 sworn officers is achieved, establish a process where starting with the anticipated FY 33/34 every $500,000 increment increase in revenues from the Public Safety Parcel Tax would trigger the hiring of an additional sworn officer position, or police operations position, to be determined by the Chief of Police. If approved, Staff would bring forward a Resolution to the City Council in the fall for review and adoption.
